In one example, a tribal nation in Oklahoma will receive funding to update its long-range transit plan, which includes assessing electric vehicle infrastructure and technology improvements to increase user accessibility for its 450,000 tribal citizens.

Another project in Mississippi will develop an innovative community-based transportation model that improves public transportation efficiency and meets the needs of those without access to essential services in Central Mississippi.

These projects were chosen from nearly $36 million in funding requests based on their potential impact, community engagement, and commitment to equity and sustainability.

”This is just the beginning,” said Secretary Buttigieg. “We’re committed to continuing our work until every American has access to safe, reliable, and affordable transportation options that connect them to the opportunities they deserve.”
